TRAVEL 
The symposium will be held on the main campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA.  Located in eastern central Texas, College Station is about 90 miles from Houston, 180 miles from Dallas, and 110 miles from Austin.  College Station is accessible by air or by car.  Symposium sessions will be held in the Whitley Suite of the Sterling C. Evans Library on the Texas A&M University Campus.

By Air: The closest airport is the Easterwood Airport (CLL) in College Station (5 min. by car).  If flying into College Station, participants can be met by a representative and transported to the hotel.  Participants may also choose to arrive into Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, approximately 90 minutes south of College Station.  If flying into Houston, a ground shuttle is available between the airports of Houston and College Station for $29 per person.  It is imperative, however, that participants make a reservation for ground shuttle transport from Houston to College Station, which can be done by following the Airport Ground Shuttle link below.  Additionally, rental car facilities are located at both the College Station and Houston Airports, but it is advisable to make your reservations ahead of time.

For those participants presenting papers, local accommodation will be provided at no cost for the three nights (Thursday, Nov. 1, Friday, Nov. 2, and Saturday, Nov. 3) at Comfort Suites in College Station.

A shuttle van will transport participants from the hotel to the symposium.

DINING

A complimentary continental breakfast is provided at the hotel.  On Friday and Saturday, a casual lunch (sandwiches, soft drinks) will be provided in the offices of the Nautical Archaeology Program, giving participants the opportunity to tour the laboratories, classrooms, and library.  A catered dinner will be held in honor of Drs. Bass and van Doorninck on Saturday, November 3rd at the Clayton Williams Alumni Center on the Texas A&M University campus.  All symposium presenters are warmly invited to attend what promises to be an evening of much conviviality and friendship!

WEATHER

November in central Texas is generally quite pleasant, with clear, sunny skies, daily high temperatures near 75° F / 24° C and overnight lows near 55°  F / 13°  C.  Visitors might like to bring a light jacket and travel umbrella, in the event of rain, but the current forecast calls for excellent weather during the symposium.
