ya7-model3.JPG (86870 bytes) Part of a 1:10 scale half model of the Yassiada 7th-century shipwreck constructed by J. Richard Steffy showing the hypotheical arrangement of the floor timbers and planking. Models such as this are useful in gaining insights into the ship's hull construction.   Photo: INA.
Another view of the 1:10 scale half model during construction.  As would have been done on the original ship, all of the bottom planking was constructed before the floor timbers were installed. Only then were the taller half-frames (seen amidships) erected.  Photo: INA. ya7-model4.JPG (79313 bytes)

In 1994, INA began the construction of a full-scale replica of the Yassiada 7th-century shipwreck's stern area in the Knight's Chapel of the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology.  This project was funded  by INA boardmember John Delapa.   The replica can be seen here following the erection of the frames.    Photo: INA. ya7-rep2.JPG (83199 bytes)
